Love and Laughter

This semester has had me thinking a lot about human nature. A study of several human nature theories may have had something to do with this...

I don't believe we can figure out a true state of human nature, individuals in a state unaffected by societal interactions. Adam and Eve started out together.

But I do believe there are some things that are simply part of who we are from our simple beginnings. I watched some video clips on my sister's blog of her twins laughing. These babies can't communicate in an advanced way. edited :o)

But these little ones, without any instruction, laugh. Beautiful, isn't it?

Interesting. I think this may take us back to our discussion of feral children. Some points: First, that they do exist. Second, that much of who we are is a product of the social environment around us, which takes us then to the discussion we had in the parking lot at the base of campus. How much of us is us, and how much is a mixture of the environment we were placed.

feral children.....I dunnooooo. Well, I think that we do learn to laugh from those around us, becuase I know that for a while I didn't know how to laugh...and still be accepted in society. I really can't remember what my laugh was before I was ilek 12 when I started experiementing with other laughs....which would explain how I so easily adopted Adam's giggle for a day...maybe Gabe was a feral child. That would explain the fascination.

That would explain a lot. Gabe, were you raised by super-analytical muskrats?

All I remember about my laugh is that it's always been loud and whole-hearted.

I can vouch for that...

Lou, I'm glad E & A could inspire such deep thinking. Here I was, thinking they were just laughing at a game. Now people are talking about "feral children." Whoa.

--And yeah, you really do laugh loud. I always know when you've gotten to our place because I can hear you outside walking to the door. But I love you for it!

I want to say something about "The same screeching tones" that babies use to communicate. There are many, many different types of cries and to a mother's ears they communicate so many different messages. Perhaps to an untrained or inexperienced ear they are the same, but in reality, they are not. Just an observation in babies' defense. :) Eric's Mom

I'll buy that :)

Totally true about babies having different cries. You should hear Eli's latest hungry cry. Funny! You don't want to be around when Anna gets her tired cry going, either. YIKES!
